The unique Renaissance Royal Castle (rebuilt in early 16th century by Sigismund I the Old and his Italian wife Bona Sforza) and the Cathedral with tombs of kings, saints and distinguished Poles are one of the most important places for Poland.

In a castle, visit famous Audience Hall with a coffered ceiling adorned with 30 wooden heads. Unique as well is the collection of 142 tapestries commissioned by King Sigismund Augustus in Flanders. And a Sigismunds Chapel in Cathedral - a masterpiece of Reneissance.

Then find a minute to take a look at a river (from the high walls) or even step in to a Dragons Cave - if you are not to serious.
Wawel is a symbolic place of great significance for all Polish people. The Royal Castle and the Cathedral are situated on the Hill. Polish Royalty and many distinguished Poles are interred in the Basilica. Royal coronations took place there since 1320.
