Podgórze
Antoher former independent city which eventually became a part of Krakow - The Free Royal City of Podgórze was established by Austrians on the south bank of the Vistula river in 1784. In 1915 became part of 'larger Krakow'.
It is just a few minute by tram from Planty Garden stops (well, about five minutes walking from Kazimierz) to Podgórski Market.
And then, it is good starting point for a walk to Mound of Krak (legendary burial place of Prince Krak, who established Krakow), or Plac Bohaterów Getta (Ghetto Heroes Square - because ghetto was in Podgórze, since Jews were moved from Kazimierz) and further to Schindler`s Factory.
Nowadays Podgórze becomes more and more popular - with good pubs and restaurants at Vistula bank and nice Bednarski park for example.
